Clearing Space through Scent

There is a lifeforce that flows through everything, including you, your home, and your workspace.

I love using aromatics to clear space energetically. The practice of using scent to shift our awareness is not something new. Humans have used aromatic substances to evoke reactions or responses for thousands of years.

Scent is a powerful way to clear any stagnant energy that remains from the previous day(s) and to welcome in the new day.

When energy flows freely, you and your space are filled with vibrancy, creativity, and vitality.

Four essential oils to clear stagnant energy

Rosemary ct verbenone (Rosmarinus officinalis)

The scent of rosemary stimulates the psyche and allows us to recharge our creative batteries and connect with our creative fire. Rosemary is associated with clear thought and promotes mental clarity (Zeck, 2014). Herbal, fresh, and soft, Rosemary ct. verbenone essential oil helps the mind feel clear, yet relaxed.

Lemon (Citrus limon)

The scent of lemon is joyous and energizing and believed to open and strengthen our intuition. Lemon is very useful if you are feeling confused and overwhelmed as it rescues a mind bogged down by burdens, decisions, and obstacles (Mojay, 1996). Lemon essential oil helps cut through the confusion and has been called an uplifting aromatic spa for the brain.

Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus)

The scent of lemongrass has an intense radiant energy that inspires expansion on all levels and promotes emotional renewal (Zeck, 2014). The fresh aroma lifts the spirits, get things moving again – and opens the door to new experiences (Holmes, 2016). A little of this powerful scent goes a long way - keep this in mind when blending.

Juniper Berry (Juniperus communis)

Juniper berries have been used since ancient times for rituals of purification. The scent releases old thoughts, strengthens our intuition and deepens trust in our inner voice. Juniper berry refreshes the mind and helps to dispel any negative or confused thoughts (Holmes, 2016).

Diffuser Blends for Clearing Space

Try the following recipes at home. I recommend using organic essential oils if possible.

Remember that you should not run your diffuser all day long. Turn your diffuser on for 15 to 30 minutes and then turn it off for at least 60 to 120 minutes.

Less is more with aromatherapy.

A Single Note
First, I suggest experiencing the suggested essential oils on their own. You can diffuse the oil or put one drop on a tissue. Take time to notice how your body responds to the scent. Where do you feel the scent in your body? If the scent were a shape or a colour, what would it be?
